In today’s world, where environmental consciousness is on the rise, more and more homeowners are looking for eco-friendly home improvement solutions. These solutions not only help reduce our carbon footprint but also support the environment in the long run.

If you’re considering making your home more eco-friendly, Sternfenster has a range of products and systems that can help you achieve your goals. As well as that, we also shared our recommendations, if you are looking to make environmentally friendly investments, regardless of how small or big they are…

Our Sustainability Commitment

Here at Sternfenster, we are committed to sustainability and reducing our carbon emissions. We have set a target to achieve Net Zero by 2050 and have already recorded a 7% reduction in CO2 emissions year on year. This is thanks to our commitment to manufacturing energy efficient windows and doors, acquiring sustainable and 100% recyclable materials, and continuously investing in renewable energy manufacturing. By lowering our scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions, we are aiming to use less unsustainable energy and switch to renewable energy sources.

We are also firm believers in working with supply partners like Deceuninck, Smart Systems, and Saint-Gobain, who share our commitment to sustainability and prioritise sustainability in their manufacturing processes and materials. For example, Deceuninck is also committed to its 2050 sustainability strategy by continuously investing in its uPVC recycling facilities where they reuse old windows and doors to create new high performance products.

Thanks to their modern and advanced mechanical process, at Sternfenster, we are also able to recycle 100% of manufacturing & post-consumer waste into new windows and doors. So that our customers can benefit from homes that bring them peace and comfort with sustainable products.

Our Eco-Friendly Windows and Doors

Did you know that windows and doors account for 18% of heat loss? That’s why our windows and door ranges are designed to reduce this heat loss by being highly energy efficient. By investing in our models, you can benefit from low U-values and lower your carbon footprint to help protect the future of our planet.

For example, by upgrading your windows to our double or triple glazing units, you can enjoy our high performance low-E glass, which has been optimised for Window Energy Ratings (WER). While our double glazed windows achieve impressive U-Values of 1.4 W/m²K, our triple glazing can reach U-Values as low as  0.6 W/m²K for an advanced level of energy efficiency and sound proofing.

When manufacturing our double and triple glazed units, we also use low-E glass in all types of applications. So, whether you are interested in our uPVC casement windows or aluminium bifolding doors, you can rest assured that our products provide the best and highest energy ratings for all UK homeowners.

Our windows are also made with sustainable materials, such as recyclable uPVC from Deceuninck and aluminium from Smart Systems. So, you can significantly reduce heat loss, resulting in lower energy consumption, reduced carbon emissions and contributing to a more sustainable future.

Our Eco Friendly Home Improvement Recommendations

LED Light Bulbs

Another key eco-friendly home improvement you can make is switching to LED light bulbs. LED bulbs are more energy efficient and cost effective than traditional incandescent bulbs. They consume less energy and have a longer lifespan, reducing the need for frequent replacements. By simply replacing your old light bulbs with LED bulbs, you can save energy and reduce your environmental impact.

Energy Efficient Appliances

When it comes to appliances, prioritising energy efficiency is key. Look for appliances with high energy efficiency ratings, such as those certified by Energy Star. These appliances are designed to consume less energy while delivering the same performance. By choosing energy efficient appliances, you can reduce your energy consumption and lower your carbon footprint.

Solar Power

Lastly, considering solar power is a significant eco-friendly home improvement. Solar panels can generate clean and renewable energy from the sun, reducing your reliance on fossil fuels and lowering your carbon emissions. By harnessing the power of the sun, you can generate electricity for your home and potentially even sell excess energy back to the grid. At Sternfenster, 30% of our factory’s electricity comes from solar power, helping us to reach our target effectively!

Create a Sustainable Future

These are just a few examples of eco-friendly home improvement systems that can make a difference in your home and the environment. By incorporating these improvements into your home, you can save energy, reduce your carbon footprint, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

At Sternfenster, we offer a range of energy efficient windows and doors made with sustainable materials. Our products are designed to provide excellent thermal performance, reduce energy consumption, and contribute to a more sustainable future. We also provide an energy savings calculator on our website, allowing you to estimate your energy cost savings by upgrading to our eco-friendly products.
